Last night I went to a benefit with my mother hosted by Team Spiridon which is an awesome local organization that mixes running and helping our animals. I've been wanting to do something that incorporates fitness and animals for a while now and this is just what I needed to give me the push to see what I can do! A little about Team Spiridon:Team Spiridon is committed to running that means something - to the runner, and to the community. A proud member of 26 Miles For 26 Charities, the LIVESTRONG Austin Marathon and Half Marathon's philanthropy program, Team Spiridon's mission is to encourage health, fitness and community involvement by training individuals in endurance sports and incorporating charitable fundraising challenges into their athletic goals. Our own "pet cause" is raising funds and awareness for local animal welfare organizations. We push fundamentals and hard work, but don't "do" elitist or arrogant - running should be accessible to anyone willing to try.
There are so many great organizations in Austin with a goal of helping animals which is one of the many reasons I love living in this city. Below is a list of a just a few, check em out and contribute in any way possible this Christmas and always!
